PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania — A crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike has shut down westbound traffic between Irwin and Pittsburgh Tuesday morning, according to the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.
A tractor-trailer crashed in a construction shortly after 4 a.m., and traffic was still blocked two hours later, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
All westbound vehicles were stopped, and all traffic was being instructed to exit at New Stanton, according to the Turnpike Commission.
The truck driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.
The tractor-trailer had been moved to the shoulder by 6 a.m. and responders hoped to get traffic moving soon, state police said.
A small amount of fuel leaked from the tractor-trailer but the spill was quickly contained, according to police.
Alternate routes must be seeked such as Route 30, according to the Turnpike Commission.
