We have officially closed the chapter that was 2023. The year was full of many ups and downs as individuals and as a society, with a lot of historic moments. One of the biggest historic parts of 2023 lies in the many strikes that happened throughout the year. The entertainment industry was essentially on a complete shut down while the Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild were on strike. The automotive industry saw some issues in production with the major United Auto Workers strike. Despite this strike, the automotive industry still had some success with their car sales. These were the top five cars sold in 2023.
Tesla Model Y
The Tesla Model Y had an estimate of 385,900 units sold in 2023 alone. This number signifies a record-breaking year for this model of the Tesla. It also makes history as being the only electric vehicle in the top five list and only one of two in the larger top 25. The only other electric vehicle in the top 25 list is the Model Y’s relative, the Tesla Model 3.
Toyota RAV4
Toyota’s RAV4 has consistently been the best-selling SUV in the country for several years. In 2023 it was just shy of having a half of a million units sold, coming in around 434,943 units sold. These numbers beat the sales seen in 2022, which already marked a huge success for the vehicle.
Ram Pickup
The top three vehicles sold in the United States in 2023 all are trucks. This truck in particular was definitely affected by the strike, as Stellantis was one of the main companies struck against and is the parent company of Ram. Despite this, the Pickup still managed to have nearly half a million units sold, approximately 444,926 to be exact. Ram has already announced that there will be a new model in 2025, generating a lot of excitement for the company.
Chevy Silverado
The Chevy Silverado is the first vehicle on this list to break the half a million units sold mark. There were around 543,319 units sold in 2023 of the Silverado. This number does include all forms of the Silverado, meaning it combines the sales of the 1500 and heavy-duty models.
Ford F-Series
This American made truck is series displays a big jump in sales from the Chevy Silverado. There were around 750,789 units sold in 2023. With that said, this is another number that is a combination of different variations. This number totals the sales of all F models, so the F100 to the F750.
