With the fall season, there are always adjustments to make to your daily life. You adjust to cooler weather, watch leaves change color and fall, adjust to shorter days and longer nights, and so many more things. But one thing many do not think of when they think of adjustments to make in this seasonal change is driving. The way one drives is different seasonally, depending on the weather, the time of day, and other environmental changes.

What autumnal driving tips are important to remember you may ask? Here are a few key ones.

Check Your Lights

This is definitely not something you need to do daily, but it is a good idea to do this periodically. Since days get shorter and nights get longer this time of year, it is very important to make sure your headlights are in good working condition. If they are not, make sure you replace the bulbs ASAP!

Clear Your Vehicle

Depending on where you live, you may get a layer of ice on your car windows and windshield. Make sure you have the proper tools to scrap this off without damaging the glass. Or, if you have the time, make sure you properly let your car defrost before driving it.

Look Out for School Buses

School goes back in session towards the end of summer in most places, meaning in fall sights of school buses grow increasingly more common. Make sure you are aware of these and look out for them and prepare to stop when driving around them.

Look Out for Wet Leaf Piles and Puddles

Just like your car sits and takes on the moisture in the fall air, so do the natural things around you. This means leaves can get very damp and create road risks, as they create a slick surface that makes it easy to slip and slide on. Furthermore, puddles create the risk of hydroplaning, and with rainy weather, they can be anywhere.

Keep Sunglasses With You

Going from summer to fall, sun glare often reaches its peak in terms of its prominence and strength. You definitely will want to make sure that if you are a commuter or someone who drives frequently in the mornings and evenings, that you have a pair of sunglasses ready.
