FAQsIf this is your first time getting your vehicle shipped, or you simply have some questions in mind, here are some of the most asked questions by our customers. If these answers don’t help, give us a call and we will be happy to assist you!

Q. How long does it take to get my car shipped?

This depends completely on the distance of the auto shipment. A move from either coast to the center of the country usually takes about 5-10 days. Auto shipments across the country usually take 10-14 days. When you submit your information to get a quote, we will also inform you of your vehicle’s delivery time length.

Q. Will my vehicle be insured?

Yes. When you place an auto shipment with us, the price you pay also includes a full insurance coverage for your vehicle. There is never any additional payments for this coverage, and the insurance is primary.

Q. Can I have anything in my vehicle during shipment?

Yes. However, only a certain amount of weight will be allowed. We like to provide our customers with 100lbs for any item with no extra charges. If you need to add items over 100lbs in your vehicle, our agents can let you know how much it would cost depending on the weight. Please be aware that our drivers are not responsible nor is it their job to protect any of your personal or household items, you are. We are strictly an auto shipping company.

Q. Am I able to check on the status of my auto shipment? If so, how?

Yes. You can contact our dispatchers with the toll-free number that we will provide you with once your order is placed with us. We track your vehicle shipment and give you updates as soon as we can. We will also give you the driver’s number that will be delivering your vehicle so you have access to contact them on your own.

Q. What kind of vehicles do you transport?

In addition to cars, you can ship the following vehicles with Pittsburgh Auto Transport:

  • Motorcycles
  • Trucks
  • Vans
  • RVs
  • Boats
  • Military equipment

We do not ship any household items.

Q. Do I need to provide any information about my vehicle?

Yes. We will ask for the model of the vehicle, the number of miles that are on it, as well as the height, length, width, and weight. You must know if your vehicle is operating normally.  We also need to know if your vehicle has any modifications such as a 4×4 lift kit, camper shell, or lower vehicle clearance, etc.

Q. How do I prepare my vehicle before transportation?

Make sure your vehicle is clean. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but we cannot inspect it if it is extremely dirty. Clean out any items that you do not need to leave in the vehicle. Make sure to not leave any valuable belongings in there. Only keep a quarter tank of gas. Give the driver a set of keys. Inform us and the driver if there is any additional information we should know like if the key batteries do not work. Make sure to remove all covers on the vehicle, if there are any. You must check and make sure that the vehicle is starting, steering, rolling, and braking normally. Check to see if your driver side window and door are working.

Q. Do I need to be present during pick-up and drop off?

Either you or your designated representative has to be present when the driver is inspecting the vehicle both at pick-up and delivery. Keep in mind the representative has to be at least 18 years old.
